Samuel B. Glover, Director

OFFICIAL BIOGRAPHY

Samuel B. Glover was confirmed by the State Senate as Director of the South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services on May 13, 2004. Glover came to SCDPPPS from the SC Army National Guard, where he directed the Youth Challenge Academy. He was also a long time owner/operator of McDonald’s Restaurant in Columbia, South Carolina.

Glover had a lengthy career in the military. He received his commission in the U. S. Marine Corp. After several active duty assignments in the Marine Corps, Glover transferred to the S. C. Army National Guard. He had a lengthy career in the Army Guard his last assignment was Deputy Site Commander of the S.C. Army National Guard Training Center. He also served as an Assistant Professor of Military Science and Enrollment Officer for the South Carolina State University. He retired as a Colonel.

Glover holds a Master of Science in counseling degree from SC State University, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree from SC State University. He attends Bethany Seminary and College where he is completing course requirements for a Master of Divinity degree.
Glover has served the Midlands Community in many capacities. He serves on First Citizens Bank Advisory Board; South Carolina State Workforce Investment Board; Palmetto Health Foundation Board; and the National Guard Youth Challenge Advisory Board. He has also served on the following boards: Richland Memorial Cancer Center; Palmetto Richland Hospital Board of Directors; Columbia, Junior Achievement; Orangeburg Regional Medical Center; Richland School District Two School Improvement Council; the Board of Big Brothers/Big Sisters; and the Board of Directors of the Columbia Chamber of Commerce.

Some of his awards include the: Meritorious Service Award, SC Military Department; SC Entrepreneur “Blue Chip” Award; South Carolina Minority Small Business Person of the Year Award; and the Columbia Chamber of Commerce Minority Small Business Person of the Year Award.

He serves as Associate Minister of First Nazareth Baptist Church Columbia, SC. Reverend Glover is married with three children.
