Persons allowed to submit a VHS videotape include:
- a member of the prosecuting solicitor's office;
- the victim of the offense for which the inmate is currently serving his/her sentence; or if the victim is deceased, ONE family member may be the spokesperson.
The videotape must not exceed five minutes. In the event of a case which includes multiple victims, the total amount of time of testimony cannot exceed ten minutes. The videotape must contain a visual or oral statement of the name of the inmate, the inmate's SCDC number, and the date of the scheduled parole hearing. You must identify yourself and state your relationship to the victim. Also, please state the date which you are recording the tape.
The videotape MUST BE RECEIVED by the Office of Victim Services NO LATER THAN TEN (10) DAYS PRIOR TO THE PAROLE HEARING DATE . Send your videotape to: Office of Victim Services, SCDPPPS, Post Office Box 50666, Columbia, SC 29250.
Please make sure that the videotape you submit is a standard VHS tape. If you submit (along with your videotape) a self-addressed, pre-paid mailer with adequate postage, the videotape will be returned to you. Otherwise, the videotape will be destroyed following the parole hearing. |
