Excellence in Supervision - Agent Jamie Myers

Jamie Myers

On January 10, 2024, Mercedes was sentenced in Chesterfield County for Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamines. She received a 5-year sentence, suspended to 3 years of probation supervision. Mercedes was required to undergo Intensive Supervision for one year, along with weekly drug tests. Initially, she was placed in Chesterfield County Drug Court but was later terminated due to non-compliance. Originally from North Carolina, Mercedes found herself homeless in Chesterfield County, often sleeping in her car when her drug court participation ended.

Efforts were made to transfer her case to North Carolina, but this request was denied. Since she lived right across the state line, the Chesterfield County Probation Office decided to retain her case, requiring her to report weekly for drug tests. She was assigned to Agent Jamie Myers, who worked diligently with her over the following year, providing encouragement and assistance with various challenges.

Mercedes reported to the Chesterfield County office weekly for drug tests for an entire year, successfully passing all of them. In addition, she mended her relationship with her mother and regained custody of her children. On January 15, 2025, she completed the Substance Use Education classes successfully. Currently, Mercedes works full-time at Marco's Pizza in North Carolina and has recently been offered a management position.

Always maintaining a positive attitude and a smile, Mercedes had her probation case terminated early on January 15, 2025, due to her compliance. Agent Myers has continued to stay in touch with her postcase closure, offering ongoing support. Mercedes has also expressed her desire to give back by sharing her story and encouraging others in the drug court program in the future. Agent Myers, thank you for your work ethic and compassion for others!
